Chicago, Il---T&H Lemont has recently successfully installed and commissioned a WU11M complete stainless steel welded tube mill line. This line features an in-line bright annealing system, multi-cathode welder, OD bead grinder, pre-wired controls and both cut to length and recoiling systems. The customer had come to T&H Lemont with the goal of producing small diameter, heavy wall stainless steel tubing for the automotive market.
The multi-cathode welding system insures full weld penetration at maximum speeds on heavy wall product, while the in-line bead grinder removes any excess weld flash during production. The in-line cutoff system allows for cut to length material, while the coiling system allows for product to be re-coiled in long lengths for secondary processing. Pre-wiring the controls minimizes installation and commissioning time.
Also, T&H Lemont shipped two new WU25 carbon steel tube mills. The mills utilize the latest technology in mill design incorporating features to shorten change over times and increase productivity. These mills were the eight and ninth systems shipped to this customer. This type of repeat business is a result of maintaining a technological edge in mill design and construction.
To facilitate production and shorten change over time between sizes, the machine is designed with separate drives and motors for the forming, winding, mandrel sections and the run-out table. This design eliminates the need to manually change gears to achieve the correct gear ratios between the separate sections when changing hose ID. The speed of each section is controlled through the drive from a pendant mounted touch screen operators station.
The operators station also controls forming speed and quantities to be produced during each production run. It also includes the "trim" function to vary speed ratios further between the various machine sections, allowing the operator greater control over the quality of the product.
Chicago, Il---In December 2005,
T&H Lemont completed the design and manufacture of critical roll orders exceeding
$1 million for two Stainless Steel Tube making companies.
One is located in Spain for the supply of Stainless Steel Tube, up to 16” O.D. with a start up during the second quarter 2006.
The other company is located in Mexico and with a production startup during the first quarter 2006 for various tubular O.D.'s below 1 3/8".
The selection of T & H Lemont as roll designer and manufacturer was based on technological
know-how and experience with tooling and process applications to produce thin walled Stainless Steel
Tube on HF, Laser or TIG Welding Tube Mills.
Chicago, Il---T&H Lemont
is
proud to announce the development of a new size of Seam Orientation Stand.
The purpose of the Seam Orientation Stand is to orient the weld seam in
welded hollow structural shape tubes. The
unit is installed prior to the sizing/shaping section of the mill.
The Seam Orientation Stand can aid in either maintaining the weld seam
at “top-dead center” or moving the weld seam to anywhere between the 10
o’clock and 2 o’clock position on the mother tube prior to shaping. Moving the weld seam in the mother tube results in the weld
seam being offset in the welded shape.

The
movement of the weld seam is accomplished using a pair of rolls mounted in roll
clevises.
Within the unit, the two roll and clevis assemblies are mounted opposite
each other. During the welding process the roll and clevis assemblies rotate in
opposition to each other, thus causing the weld seam to be moved to the desired
location.
The rotation of the tooling assemblies is completely motorized.
The controls for the unit can be mounted independently near the unit or
installed at the cut-off operating station.
The new Seam Orientation Stand is designed to handle mother tubes as large as
12.750” (325mm) and as small as 3.000” (75mm).
While a separate pair of rolls is recommended for each weld size, the
impact of the tooling is reduced by the utilization of three sizes of roll
clevises.
The different sizes of clevises allow the roll tooling to be optimized
for the mother tube, reducing tooling costs and maximizing the efficiency of the
unit.
Chicago, Il---T&H Lemont
recently completed the successful installation of two complete WU11M-11 Quick-Change Stainless Steel Tube Mills.
These integrated mill systems are capable of producing inline-bright annealed products from a diameter range of.250 (6.4mm) to 1.000 (25.4mm) and wall thickness of.020 (0.5mm) to .065 (1.6mm).
The mill features an Accumulator, Tri-Cathode Weld System, 3-motor AC drive and additional cassettes tooled for Quick-Change over.
These systems also include both a Rotary Cut-Off for cut-to-length product as well as an automatic Tube Re-Coiler.
Chicago, Il---T&H Lemont
has introduced a new automatic cut-off length control system. The new system
utilizes the latest in electronic controller technology providing user-friendly
programming. T&H Lemont is able to offer these features utilizing
only standard off the shelf components. All components are available for
overnight delivery.
